Meet Pierce
Q: What was your goal when you started the program last year?
A: When I signed up for MyEquilibriumCoach, my goal was to walk 10,000 steps a day. I went on the elevator diet and cut out the elevator for any floors at my job less than 5 floors up.
MyEquilibriumCoach brought walking more to the forefront of my mind. I was able to increase my activity just by hand delivering documents to my coworker's offices above and below me, never taking the elevator.
Q: What challenges did you face along the way?
A: Getting my fuzzy butt out of the chair! When I started I really didn't have a goal to lose weight. I did lose 25 pounds though, just by walking with MyEquilibriumCoach!
Q: What did you like most?
A: Now I would say I'm less round and definitely fit and happier. What helped me most of all was the idea of the rewards and shifting my focus to being accountable, logging in everyday and competing with other co-workers and seeing my trek across the country.
Q: Has MyEquilibriumCoach helped you KEEP the WEIGHT OFF?
A: Yes I've made a habit of walking 10,000 steps a day. Sometimes, I will wear the pedometer for a day to see if I'm still walking as much as I did during the competitions...and I am! The virtual competitions were great. More employees should get involved in this at work. It's healthy daytime competition.

Q: What was your goal when you started the program last year?
A: I just wanted to be healthier. I'd always been active but never followed a real regimen, always been physically active, but never strict regimen…
Q: What challenges did you face along the way?
A: Getting friends and others to do it with me. It helped that I had to be accountable everyday... Logging in...I made it a habit. I loved putting in the activites each day and seeing them calculated. It helps me stay consistent and competitive. I wanted to See my steps EVERYDAY on the Map!
Q: Did you have a goal weight when you started?
A: I'm not a fan of weighing self. I just stuck to logging, eating well, recording it and making it a habit. Now I do a lot of different activities. Yoga, 5K competitions and other stuff. I feel great. I really do.
Meet Adam
Q: What was your goal when you started the program?
A: My goal was to stay active even during the work week and learn some new exercises. Also, after signing up on MyEquilibriumCoach.com and seeing my different options, I really wanted to record enough steps to walk across the country!
Q: Did you face any obstacles along the way to persevere in your goals?
A: It is really hard to stay active during the work week. We’re here at the office for a lot of hours, many of them spent just sitting in a chair, staring at my computer. Then, when I get home, I’m often so tired that all I want to do is veg on the couch, eat dinner and go to sleep.
Q: What were your weight-loss goals when you began using the system?
A: About 160 lbs and I just wanted to maintain that weight.
Q: What is the one thing about MyEquilibriumCoach that you found most helpful?
A: That map was great! It was so neat to have a starting point somewhere in the United States and see your steps converted into distance on that map. It really gave me a great perspective for how much walking I was (or wasn’t) actually doing on a daily basis.
Q: What are you doing now to keep the weight off or lose more?
A: I like to run and I have been trying to make more of an effort to allot time in my day to get outside and run. I’m also trying to convince myself that on days when I just don’t have the time, it’s okay to run 15 minutes or so on the treadmill, as long as I don’t settle for this alternative too frequently.
Q: How would you use the MEC program differently if offered the opportunity again?
A: I would be better about recording my steps and remembering my pedometer wherever I went. I also would maybe try to use the food journal, which I didn’t take advantage of during our program.
Q: How could your experience with MEC have been improved?
A: There was some confusion about how steps were to be recorded and how the steps were totaled if you did complete your goal route. But overall, MEC was pretty straightforward and very easy to use.
